🟥 17 Feb 1951, Villa 2-3 Spurs, White Hart Lane

ON THIS DAY
Saturday, 17 February 1951
Villa are desperately unlucky at White Hart Lane after going two behind within a minute of the restart they fight back to 2-2 only to have a penalty awarded against them with 10 minutes remaining.
Joe Rutherford however pulls off an excellent save to keep the scores equal however the referee orders a retake, for no obvious infringement, and this time the spot kick is successful and Villa are harshly beaten at the last by the League leaders.
George Martin's Villa lose for the fourth successive game and after ten League games in charge his record reads one win, four draws and five losses.
Overall Villa make it five wins, ten draws and fourteen defeats in twenty nine division one games so far this season and sit 21st in the table.
Meanwhile, centre forward Ron Jeffries made his Villa debut after moving from Moor Green in August 1950.
