🟩 25 Oct 1919, Villa 4-1 Boro, Ayresome Park
ON THIS DAY
Saturday, 25 October 1919
Villa record their second win in four games but just their second overall in the first eleven games of the campaign to date having lost eight.
Meanwhile, Villa handed their fourteenth and fifteenth debuts in eleven matches to two players who would become cult figures at Villa:
Centre back Frank Barson who had joined from Barnsley aged 28 after much persuasion that he possessed sufficient quality to play for a club like Villa and arriving for a fee of £2,850 earlier this month, whilst forward Billy Kirton also made his Villa debut aged 22 after joining from Leeds City for a fee of £500.
