Villa suffer a shock defeat for the ages as they lose to the recently renamed Small Heath (nee Small Heath Alliance).
It is Villa's first-ever defeat to their lowly neighbours in fourteen meetings.
Villa pepper the packed Muntz Street goal but the opposition score twice against the odds in the first half.
The game however followed a fashion seen so many times before or since, rugged and at times over the top play from the home side and a misbehaving crowd causing suspension of the game. Some things never change, the stark contrast between the two clubs being a constant.
Not only is it Villa's first reverse of the campaign it is also their first in eight after six wins in seven unbeaten games.
Villa make it two wins, a draw and a defeat in four division one games so far this season.
