Villa suffer a shock home defeat to Ipswich - their first loss in eight Premier League matches as Mark Bosnich makes a rare goalkeeping error.
Villa lose for the first time in the league for 8 games under Ron Atkinson.
Ugo Ehiogu makes his 25th appearance in a Villa shirt (12 Starts) to make it W14 D4 L7 and 1 Assist so far in his Villa career.
What they Said
"If the players are not happy about the situation [the size of their Cup final bonus], all they have to do is come and knock on my door.
"They needn't worry about Wembley they can get out of the club.
"After a performance like Saturday's, they should be thinking of paying the club to play at Wembley, rather than the other way round.
“It [Garry Parker’s response to being substituted against Ipswich] won’t affect my thoughts for the final.
"Basically, Garry Is not a bad lad, but I won't tolerate that sort of behaviour.
“He made a retort to the bench, and I was in the mood to pull someone off - so it was him.
“The way we were playing, no one should have been in a position to say anything.
“We should have been getting on with the job, and not answering back.
“What happened to Garry is a warning to anyone else - but that’s the end of the matter.”
Ron Atkinson.
"It's sad, but this sort of thing [arguments over bonuses] always seems to happen before a final.
"We don't want a problem like this In the build-up to Wembley."
Kevin Richardson.
COCA-COLA Cup finalists Aston Villa were brought down to earth as Ipswich secured their first League away win this year.
Gavin Johnson's eighth-minute strike was enough to condemn Villa to only their second defeat in eight Premiership games as Ipswich bounced back following their 5-1 home hammering by Arsenal last week.
The biggest cheer of the day from Villa's fans came following the news from Old Trafford that the Manchester United goalkeeper, Peter Schmeichel, will miss the Cup final following his sending-off against Charlton.
Villa paid dearly for starting too slowly against an Ipswich side who had lost their last two games. There appeared to be little danger when Johnson collected the ball 20 yards out, but his weak shot completely deceived Villa 'keeper Mark Bosnich.
