On This Day
Brian Godfrey scores for the second successive match as Villa draw at top six side Cardiff to sit joint 20th in the table on eight points with Fulham after 12 games. Villa however remain in the relegation places on goal average. Villa though put in their best performance of the season as Peter Broadbent, on his first appearance of the campaign, dominates and Villa only fall behind to a disputed goal. Toshack challenges Edwards to leave him dazed and on the floor but continues to play on and subsequently receives the ball again as he is played onside by the prostrate Edwards to chip the โkeeper.
Tommy Cummings' Villa now have just two wins in the last seventeen games as they make it two wins, four draws and six defeats in twelve division two games so far this season.
