Villa do a 'Wrexham' at Newcastle as they again don't start to play until the final half hour and cannot rescue a game they really should have been able to win.
Villa now have just 4 games in 4 weeks, a curious piece of fixture scheduling given it is already turning into March with 14 League games left to play and a League Cup semi final.
The only certainty is that it seems that the final month of the season will see Villa being required to play an unprecedented number of games as the Football League and FA have failed to sensibly manage the additional fixture burden created by the League Cup.
Joe Mercer's Villa lose for the third time in four having not lost in the previous eight to make it thirteen wins, ten at home, five draws and eleven defeats, eight away, in twenty nine games following their return to the top flight.
