With the original fixture postponed 24 hours before due to fog, Villa face Plymouth a day late in what were barely different conditions. Villa fall two behind despite Plymouth losing their 'keeper for 20 minutes in the first half and equalise with 20 minutes remaining to set up a replay at Home Park.
Joe Mercer's Villa face second division Plymouth in the fourth round of the League Cup and have to settle for a replay at Home Park after the spritely Pilgrims put three past the Villa back line.
