On This Day
Villa play for the first time in a fortnight as Stan Lynn scores his first of the season as Villa dispatch neighbours Birmingham with such ease that it's described not as a "win" but a "walloping"
Villa, three goals to the good at half time, are in inspired form, not least Ken O Roberts who scores one and is instrumental in another whilst Johnny Dixon gets his 4th assist of the season.
That Villa did it with effectively 10 men following the injury that incapacitated Bill Baxter after 30' was all the more impressive.
Villa record back to back wins for the first time this season to make it five wins, four draws and four defeats in thirteen games this season under Eric Houghton.
