Villa secure their first win of the season at the fourth attempt as Sunderland are beaten at Villa Park thanks to goals from Billy Goffin and Trevor Ford but Dicky Dorsett misses out as he is told by manager Massie that the has become "too individualistic." Also receiving feedback is Jackie Martin who is told to forget about scoring goals and concentrate on "holding the forward line together." Whatever the eficacy of that advice Villa do at least win but it's clear all is not smooth behind the scenes.
