Villa lose for the third consecutive game under Jimmy McMullan despite Dai Astley's fourth of the season.
Villa are now winless in five games.

Although form under McMullan had been poor for a signifcant period, it is a shock to most observers when it is revealed the manager, who had signed a one year extension to remain in post for 1935-36, resigned his position following Villa's latest defeat.
Unsurprisingly the resignation was accepted by Chairman Normansell and it was revealed that Villa would revert to the management committee structure for the remainder of the campaign.
