 1925-26 Season Notes

Villa recovered from a poor 1924-25 season to post their fourth top 6 finish in five seasons with Billy Walker once again hitting form on the goal trail but it was Len Capewell who topped the charts - hitting 34 of the 92 Villa scored this season - whilst Dicky York chipped in with 20 himself with Villa having set the tone for the season as all three scored in the 10-0 thrashing of Burnley on the opening day of the campaign.

The season was also highly notable for Villa's first change of leadership in nearly 30 years with Fred Rinder being replaced as Chairman by J. E. Jones with even greater upheaval coming at the season end with secretary George Ramsay's retirement having won 6 league titles and 6 FA Cups over his 40 year stay as leader of the Villa management committee.
