 1912-13 Season Notes

Villa recovered from the relative downturn they experienced in 1911-12 to climb back up the first division to finish league runners up behind the thuggish title winners Sunderland and once again lifted the FA Cup - their record fifth win in the competition - beating eventual league champions Sunderland in one of the least sporting finals in history. Villa hit 86 league goals and another 20 as they past the fourth round of the FA Cup for the first time since their last win in the 1904-05 season.
